    Default Headlight mounts request

Someone really needs to make some Bates style headlight mounts for these Japanese bikes.

I'm having a hell of a time finding something sturdy and good enough to mount onto my XS650 lower tree.

So if anyone wants to punch out a few that mount to the two receiving holes on the front of the lower tree for XS650's...I'll buy a couple.

Better yet market these to Lowbrow or TCBros or someone like that and enjoy the cash flow

Same here, perfect mounting points already there.

He does have a point though. I'm in the same deal with the CB750 project I'm working on. It's not that hard to make one, but if somebody made some simple ones that were sturdy, functional, looked good, and they were already powdercoated or chromed, it could be a time saver.

I would rather be working on my carbs than making that mount. Plus, I think part of his point was that it is an open market for somebody to take advantage of and make money. Bill you wanna go in a headlight mount business with me? Just kiddin' homie.

If you're interested in mounting from the upper tree, a guy over on the 650 boards started making these:

I got this idea from someone on here. It was simple to make and looks pretty good.

You're right. After a while, the flex that part undergoes will cause it to work harden, become brittle, and crack. Needs gusseted to eliminate flex.

Are these pics all of XS650s? I think my early (1973) triple trees are a bit different. Intersting.

Some good designs in here guys. I guess I'm just worried about the lamp shaking quite a bit w/ such a thin piece of metal propping the light up.

    Thanks for all the pics.

Simple piece of angle iron. Couldn't be much easier.

^^^ Coachstorms nice! I was going to make my mount just like this, I still might do it. Just need to buy a smaller light. I have a 5 3/4 right now.
