i know this is a stretch but does anyone know jet sizes to run with pod filters and a decently open exahust. i can weld in baffles if you think it would help.

If I remember its a 120 main jet so I would go with a 125 and the high jet is a 130? and I would go with a 135. Also if you just put pods on you don't have to change you idle jet... When you pull off the bottom of your carbs and pull out the jet it will say on it what size it is, just get one or two sizes up.
Hope that helps. Oh yea and don't expect a huge difference the gs-450 dosn't have a lot of hidden horse power, But it dose have 6 gears so put a bigger sproket on the beast!

I have an 86 GS450 with pods and open exhaust (no baffles), I went with the stock pilot jet size 37.5, but replaced the stock ones with new replacement ones (you'll notice that the stock ones are solid tubes, while the new replacements will have holes in the emulsion tubes for a cleaner mix). My main is a 135. I have no issues anywhere in the throttle range and the plugs are spot on, of course every bike will be different, but for small stuff you can also drill out the EPA plugs and adjust that mixture (mine are drilled but I didn't need to make any adjustments)
Here's a link if you want to get the jets on the cheap (and see what I'm talking about on the pilot jets):
