Nice bike! I just did the kick start gear on the "Polished Turd". Not too hard to do. Will be a perfect bike once you have that doneComment

Here's one: Where did you order your kickstart gear from? I guess that's my first step!Comment

I would look @ ebay first, im sure custom chrome has it as well. On my 73 i needed to make a clutch compressor tool, some shims to lock the basket, and I used a Harmonic balencer puller to get to the gear.Comment

You can score one from drag specialties, or debrix. I like debrix.com personally, I've gotten a few parts from them for this build. If you are closer to cali go that route (they ship a little slow). Yeah hit me up, the hardest part is removing the old rivets, after that it's a breeze.Comment

I used a gear puller to keep the plate down on the springs. I think looking back I could of done it with a wall and my knee instead. You will also need a 1 1/2 in socket. Get yourself a ironhead sporty manual (get the hd one) and study it a couple times, I have a haynes too and it is bogus.Comment

Thanks...got the HD manual on the way. Working on cleaning it up while I wait on the kickstart gear to get here.

Wicked, I got the same intake! How is it going isthat gear in. That is a wicked escapism machine! Looks better every time I see a picComment

thanks man! I'm hoping to have her running on Saturday. Waiting on another gear that was stripped. I replaced the kicker gear (it had only 2 teeth left) but the gear it mated to was stripped as well. I also installed some different headlights...I'll take pics Saturday hopefully.Comment
