Yes, I build it over the summer. It was build for a lady (hence the lowering shocks)....if it had of been fully built to my specs, it would have had a set of Bilstein's on the rear. Here's some more pics:

Nice! This makes me want to pick up a Dyna that my step dad is trying to sell. He just wants to much money because of all the chrome doo-dads and shit he's added to it. It could all be sold but it would be a pain.

i've got an 04 dyna that i keep trying to convince myself to fuck with. then i look at the 2 projects lying listless in the garage and jump on the dyna for a ride. when i get back it dawns on me that HD knows more than i do and that i fucking love my dyna. to the dude that said they don't handle well - not sure what you've been riding but mine is as nimble as any 650 lb bike i can imagine to be. not calling anyone out - just saying that to me the bike feels pretty flickable. yep it aint a CBR 1000 but it aint supposed to be. but every pair of shoes i have is missing areas where my pegs are. the bike hauls, is dead-nuts reliable, and the whole stock-bike thing is starting to grow on me for SOME bikes. i lowered it, added some Gimp-hanger knockoffs, and basically never wash it (we dont have enough days of good weather to waste em cleaning lol), and just ride the shit out of it. i still want my bar-hopper for blasting around but if i want to put a lot of miles on and not stress the wife out, i jump on the dyna. if you really want to tweak it, get a cheap sporty and go nuts. as the season ends i am seeing biks around here for 1000-2500 in running condition. thats my useless 2 cents.

thats exectly it.....bike is as nimble and flickable as YOU imagine it should be . If you ever get a chance to ride something more nimble and flickable (like an FXR for example) you'll see the Dyna's shortcomings. Also condition of forks, shocks and motor mount isolators play a huge part in the way bike handles. Improve or even just renew those items and you'll have beter handling bike than YOU think you have.
you mention dragging your feet/pegs, but you also lowered the bike. Don't you think you decreased ground clearance? ever wonder why FXDX (best handling Dyna) sits higher than FXD? do you really think lowering the bike and adding 'hangers improves handling and control?

simple ride height example:
I used to roadrace Yamaha SR500. My "A" bike had 18in wheels and stock forks and 13.5in shocks. I used to drag pegs, toes, knees, pipe in just about every corner ...My "B" bike had 14.25in shocks and 19in front wheel.Same motor. My lap times were identical, but I'd only touch my knee in a couple of corners ....

i wasn't trying to offend you or anyone else. i .didnt say MY bike was the greatest bike in the history of the world lol. i can only ride 1 bike at a time and yes i have ridden baggers, sportbikes, etc but no never as a roadracer or a pro or anything like that. i dragged my pegs with stock suspension and with it lowered. i lowered it cos i'm a short bastard and wanted to be more in control. i always hated apes till i found a cheap set and tossed em on and love the position it puts my arms in. having done 500 miles to DC and back on the stock setup and feeling like my back was gonna explode, to me my setup works much better. i am sure there are tons of ways to improve the Dyna's handling - #1 would be for me to become a better rider. i've played drums for 20 years and watch as people buy 3k kits to "sound better". they still suck and now are out 3k. same with bikes. i could buy the greates handling bike in the world but until i can wring the piss out of it, it just wasted potential, though i agree that better gear obv makes basic riding etc much easier. anyway sorry if i offended as that wasnt my intention. was just pointing out that i thought the dyna was a pretty well handling bike for nearly 650 pounds or so.

no offense taken and I totaly understand how people mistaken comfort for handling. I was there once too. People get used to their bike and can push it to ever increasing limits, but fail to understand that their personal limits and the limits of the bike can be increased with just some basic training and modifications.
This is riding!
