Thanks to the Chop Cult crew for making this forum for us.

47 Industries is a welding and fabrication shop located at 59 Second Ave. Raritan, NJ 08869. We specialize in one-off parts for any make of bike, car, or whatever you may want. I (Mike47) am the owner. We have 1 other employee, Ryan the Whiz-kid. We do machine, welding and fabrication jobs. Bike parts, frame work, restorations, hardtails, and whole bike builds. Hot rod fab., race car chassis fab, art pieces and industrial work are also entertained. We are plenty familiar with Harley Davidson, The regular British stuff, most Japanese brands, and some others. We have plenty of experience with NHRA drag cars and SCCA club racing as well (mostly Porsche). We also do street rod fabrication and custom suspension work like brake upgrades, air bags, etc. Check out 47fab.com for more.

I worked for 15 years in the auto repair business with 13 of those being a Cadillac Technician. Once I hit the top of that field I became burned out on it and kinda bored and wanted to do something new. I had already been working nights for a few years in a race car fabrication shop under a really talented metal master. He taught me well and I listened as best I could. I also took welding classes at the local tech school to learn some formal skills and certifications. I was doing stuff out of my own garage as well for about 5 years so I decided to leave the secure dealer job to open my own shop. After 2 years working out of the home shop I struck a deal with my fabrication mentor to buy out his equipment and move into his shop where we are now.

Ryan is the young punk everbody hates. He was raised on hot rods and his dad had an Ironhead Sportster when they still sucked. Ryan inherited that bike and his dad's and uncles' passions for all things leaky, fast and loud. The kid knows things about bikes only the factory knew and would embarrass most grey beards with his vast knowledge of Harley and British motorcycles. He looks like the normal skater jerk but is plenty smart and talented. His math is outstanding. He runs the lathe and milling machines like they were musical instruments. Just don't try to talk to him cause he'll probably walk away and hide in the bathroom till you leave. Anti-social dick!

The shop is a 2500 square ft. industrial shop. We have the equipment and skills to make just about anything you want. Mills, lathes, brakes, shears, tubing benders, saws, press brake, frame jigs, etc. We are fully equipped to handle your requests.

We regularly accept work big and small from all over the place. With good measurements and/or drawings we can make you whatever you like and ship it out.

We have recently added a retail sales area to our office. We are dealers for Biltwell, Lowbrow Customs, Buchanons spoke and wheel, Sprocket Specialists and V Twin as well as a bunch of independent parts suppliers like TroyFab, and After Hours Choppers . We carry the cool magazines like Dice, Greasy Kulture, Show Class and Lowside as well. Shelf inventory will increase slowly in the coming months but if you are local and want to come by and check things out then come on by.

Normal shop hours are Monday-Friday 9-5:30 and weekends by appointment. Walk-in shoppers and such are welcome but coming unannounced from 12-2 might get you a locked door if we head out for lunch that day. It's best to call ahead to be sure we will be there. We also offer some late hours by appointment to meet our customers needs and help them not miss work to drop off and pick up from us. We can be reached at 908-526-8865. Leave a message as it is often loud in the shop and we cannot hear the phone. We call back ASAP. Also reachable by email at mike@47fab.com

Mike machined down my Axle for El Poopy Face (My Ironhead). He went WAY above and beyond my expectations. I know it seems like a little thing, but he took care of the machining I had asked for him to do AND he cleaned the whole thing up for me. It looked brand new when I got it back. I highly recommend this guy, great to work with, easy to communicate with and a speedy turn-around.

Mike made a set of bars for me, to my specs for my sporty. Great comminication and the bars were dead on to what I asked for. Put about 10k miles on them this summer and never had an issue with anything. Price was damn good as well.

Never done business with someone more customer attuned - what I thought was reasonably quick turnaround was reasonably problematic to Mike (meaning I thought he was quick, he kept apologizing for taking too long) - the work was spot on flawless - pieces made from factory prototypes bolted right up - welds are beautiful - was constantly updated with pics of the work - just a real pleasure to do business with - if you need something made out of stainless, Mike @ 47 Industries will treat you right

working with Mike on a build now and cannot say enough good things. Honest, great communication and not afraid to let you know if an idea you have sucks or just won't work.

Thanks for the good words people. We appreciate it.

Here's a Triumph we did some work on:

Relaced the rear wheel with Stainless spokes and rechromed the hub to a Harley drop center 16". Chromed the drum. Mounted the modified Fab Kevin plate mount. Installed the Troy Fab tensioner, Biltwell seat and gas tank mounts, filled and smoothed the loops off the head tube. Mounted the oil bag. Mounted the 7 Metal West fender and fabbed the skinny struts.
Pic sucks. sorry

'98 Evo sporty hardtail job. 4" stretch. Made the seat tube a bit funky to give more oil bag room.

Clip-ons that were too small. We took a few MMs out of them and got them round again after being cinched down too hard and "ovaled". After on the left. Before on the right.

Foot rests going on a Triumph. Customer designed the parts and we fabbed them. Pegs swivel back at 45 degree angles in case he gets it too low.

Triumph trans. bearing bore repair. Looked like someone tried to press out the bearing with a freakin' jack hammer. Bored it oversized. Made a bushing. Welded it in and rebored to size. Pressed in the new bearing. Pin was not drilled and installed yet in the hole to the left. The chip on the right will give you an idea of how banged up the case was.

Had to repair this dropseat frame. Nice try buddy, but your eye was just a hair off! Straightened the head tube, deraked it a few degrees and put in a new double backbone. Still in the works but getting better. Fabbing motor mounts on this too.

Just did some work for "topher" from 313 paint. We mounted his GME gas tank, oil bag, and rear fender. Fabbed the sissy bar to his design and mounted his custom seat. We also replaced a frame x-member that was drilled through and bent.

The seat was already done for another bike so all fab work needed to be done with the leather on. Only burned it a little bit. There's only so much we can do in this case.
Here's the modified rear saddles that sit on the x-member:

This post goes into the pogo hole:

I just want to say that I got home not 15 minutes ago with my bike that Mike at 47 Industries worked on for me.

HOLY SHIT!!! The guy is amazing. Easy to deal with. Amazing communication, Top notch work. Just a peach!

I have never gone so far over budget (because I kept adding things) on something and felt that I truly got my money's worth before.

Mike, thanks much. I really do appreciate it.

OG wishbone frame neck replacement. This is a V-twin neck forging. We were able to save the original backbone and downtube tubing without any slugging and replaced the secondary support tube.

Starting in on another wishbone frame. The neck was chopped to nothing and had a lot of heavy handed grinding on it and the back bone. Replacing the neck forging, backbone all the way to the seat forging, secondary support tube, and side car loops. We saved the original down tubes. Also gonna be getting the tool box mount put back on and new top motor mount and tank mount.

Got this one nailed down. Race Frame Engineering supplied us with the neck, backbone and support tube on this one. Took a bit to get it shipped from Australia but man are their parts worth it.
All fit up.

On the fixture table.

All welded up.

You should set up an area of your shop that offers fine wines and aged cheeses. I swear everything you do is high art.

Great seeing you Saturday

Thanks Mike. I'll consider that offering. Right now we have coffee, soda and beer. I guess I need to up my game!. HAHA.

Stainless steel wheel spacers and a modified axle for putting a 21" spoolie on a OG HD springer. No need to hog out the rockers and only 1 spacer for each side and an outer end spacer for under the nut. These require some work with the stepping and the multi level counterboring to work with the OE replacement axle. Polish and chrome up the customer.
