What are the actual symptoms? Noises? Oil level? Oil return to tank when running? Compression test numbers?
BTW I don't run gauges, just idiot lights since it's a full flow system and pressure drops considerably when warm. Gauges on an HD can be deceptive and should not be considered precise.
If it runs and doesn't make any odd noises, perform a charging system test since you had to jump it. I suspect an old battery. Anything longer than two or three years on a bike is a matter of luck.
Cost to fix damage is based on actual damage. Not all of most engines dies at once. If there is considerable damage may be cheaper than an overhaul to buy a low mileage donor Evo (need not be an FXR, Evo big twins interchange), rape it then part it out.
Crate engines are often a better deal than a rebuild and a much better idea if you want more HP than the slow stock lump.
Get the facts then post what you find.
Don't trust that dopey gauge. Don't make assumptions.
If you can get it started, have someone experienced (tech) listen to it.Comment

Looks like the bendy bits protected the frame which is the key component of an FXR. Aftermarket fenders are inexpensive and non-stock aftermarket tanks quite reasonable.
I prefer those Super Glide style seats and bought one new in '88 to replace the flip seat which moved my ass too far forward. I use a stainless wing nut and stud to hold mine on but have gone years without the wing nut (the seat can't escape my crotch unless disaster strikes). If it's torn I'd get it reupholstered. Auto shops have access to much heavier/better vinyl.
Sucks that the excellent stock downpipes got squashed but do NOT replace with drag pipes which strangle the engine in any form. Fuck drag pipes... The only thing I'd install other than a stock style exhaust (which sounds like a Harley) is a decent 2-into-1 (which can't sound like a Harley). I have a Thunderheader and a Bassani Road Rage on my FXRs, the Road Rage is better built with a superior mount and tucks in well. I had to fab a Thunderheader mount because fuck that POS misused Barrymount they used to run and might still. The Thunderheader coating sucks and it will get blasted then Cerakoted.
If the forks are bent it's a fine time to install dual disc brakes with four piston calipers. (Any time is fine actually, fuck those single piston calipers even in dual form which I also ran since new when I bought the kit.) Contemporary Sportster forks and rims etc interchange except for tube lenght (IIRC some match) and springs. I never checked damper rod part numbers.
If you want the new fender to hug the tire closer just redrill the holes to suit. The MoCo left plenty of room.
The vtwinforum FXR section is excellent, though the rest is basically "boomers with baggers". Lots of brake and fork info lives there.
Since the air filter got smacked I'd examine the carb area after removing it. Good time to replace the intake manifold seals too and anything old and rubber while it's down for repair. Inspect or replace your rubber engine mounts. The front can be completely detached and you might not notice! Mine was and I was quite surprised. If you do the rear mounts do NOT omit slathering the pivot bolt with anti-seize.Comment

Thanks ya very sore but just lucky I didn't split my head open. racing motocross my whole life I'm constantly looking at the bikes fly by me where I live in Idaho with no helmet laws and think man that's stupid. I have always worn a helmet and have hit my head more times then I can remember on the dirt. This time I was just running to the store and my helmet was hiding from me so I thought what the hell. Last time I will ever do that. still unclear on what happened I remember up to the stop light, take a corner get on hwy going 55ish and thats it. next thing I remember is waking up with some lady screaming at me to stay down. I drove to the scene a few weeks later, no skid marks just looks like I ran straight off the corner.Comment

The kit is from True Track but the the principle is using a "piloted chucking reamer" to bore the case on the motorcycle to avoid pulling the gearbox then clamping it on a milling machine table. Watch all three videos.
They offer kits for both pivot axle sizes and the job is pretty basic.
I have a mill but if I had to do that job in the bike I'd try to source a piloted chucking reamer with 5/8" pilot and "desired bushing outside diameter" cutting area" based on the bushings I wanted or grind down a pilot area on a conventional reamer (see reamer in video) to 5/8" size with my toolpost grinder on my lathe or just buy the True Track kit.

I installed the 02 to 08 swing arm on my '95 touring but went a little different route. I used my original .625 swing arm pivot and machined some reducer bushings to fit the spherical OEM 3/4" I.D.bearings in the later model swing arm. I put it all back together with new rubber isolater's, torqued up the factory specs. and it worked out very well. I like the forged axle ends on the newer swing arm, much better than touring and FXR swing arms that crush real easy from over torquing the axle. I had to convert my back wheel to 1" sealed bearings but I like that beefy 1" rear axle. I can definitely tell a difference in the handling. The swing arms are relatively cheap on ebay, I got mine as a new take off from a trike builder for 56 bucks, shipped! All this would be a good addition on an FXR hot rod.Comment

Since pivot axle weakness isn't an issue your idea makes perfect sense. What wheel bearing make/size/part number did you use?
I'm keeping the stock pivot bore on my current case since it's still tight and will bore the case when it wears (long case bore should last longer than two short bushings) and I want to keep the stock style rear wheel.
Since my back is destroyed if a police seat/back rest/air shocks etc aren't comfortable enough I'll get the bagger swingarm and lengthen it for a softer ride (due to more travel at the wheel and longer wheel base). The stock swingarm isn't an issue for me on a 600lb FXR but it's too thin for me to want to extend.
I may remachine the larger diameter rear axle to fit the Timken style bearings (which HD should have kept but they obviously didn't want to shim them, bearing quality has been going down since the Shovelhead era swingarm Timkens went away) but I won't have one in my hand for a bit.Comment

Instead I got these Works Road Racer shocks fully re-built that were originally off a '89 FXR. Pretty rare I guess and was told Eddie Lawson used 'em way back in the yesteryear. Psyched to check them out.

I bought 'em off CL like 6 years ago for $130. They arrived leaking oil bad. I called the guy to complain and he basically said "I'll send you your money back if you send the shocks back, many people are asking for them and are willing to pay more." So I said "fuck it I'll keep 'em". Time goes by and the company that built them folds. Found a guy in Cali that rebuilds them and sent them out. He calls me with some questions and then says "You know those are pretty rare, right? I've only seen one other pair before." He said some were on Ebay auction with a buy them now price of $1500!
I told my OL this and she said "Sell them!" but I've never been known for my wise financial decisions and I'm anxious to try these out.
Thanks for the pic, that's great. I realized I have another slight connection. Back in '99 I bought my first (and only!) brand new bike, a ZRX1100. A kind of tribute Lawson bike. A really good daily rider with a Corbin and superbike bar swap. Had a huge storage spot under the seat big enough to carry three tall's. Did great wheelies.
