Anyone have any experience with these Z1R helmets. I'm looking at the Phantom Purgatory for the colder weather? Only $99 seems like a deal.
I'm looking for a full face any try this one

They're not cheap, but I won't ride with anything but an Arai FF. Best helmet I've ever placed atop my head...Comment

When asking for opinions on helmets, I have found a lot of people like to use the saying..."how much is your life worth?" when asked about their choice in helmet quality (price?). I find it a little funny that by using this logic, those buying an Arai or Shoei for say, $600, value their lives SIX times more than someone buying a new Bell or Biltwell. But I guess the real question is, how do sales equate into life value appraisal? I guess at the end of the day, it is whatever helps you sleep at night.
Just an observation. Good luck. The internet's big. You really can "name your price" when it comes to helmets. Just depends on how much looking around you want to do. I'm in the market for a FF for wintertime around here, not for DOT, but for cold weather resistance. The Eternal Combustion troop ones are my favorites (non vintage) so far.Comment

I don't ever use the logic, "how much is your head worth?" I think it's fairly petty as well.
I have worn lots of helmets and finally settled on a brand that fits SO well, it really is worth the money. The build quality, and the fit are far superior, you really just have to try one on to understand it. The ventilation system is also the best in the biz. You can feel a breeze working through the helmet as you ride, with the shield down.
But that's what you get when each one is built by hand and individually inspected.
I'm not trying to be a helmet snob, but I think there are some products in this world that are worth spending some money on. I think helmets are one of those things.Comment

I recently bought my first FF helmet in January, and I love it. With like everything else you get what you pay for. My helmet is ugly as sin, but I don't care. I also know I have a misshaped head and the Shoei and Arai helmets didn't really cooperate well. I was looking for comfort so I can continue to pull the occasional 1k mile day, or spend 16 hours with it on and still be comfortable. I found that the Shark helmet I bought fit me well, and is a quality helmet.
Only advice I'll give is go into the store and put the helmet on and walk around for an hour or so. It's hot and uncomfortable, but you'll know by the time you leave if it's the right fit. Then shop like a mother and get the best deal possible.Comment

This will be my 1st ff street helmet. I have been wearing a german novalty for the past 7 years. Any DOT ff will be an upgrade from that. Thanks for the tip on revzilla.com. Free shipping both ways if I don't like it. I think I have settled on a Sparx S07. Got a lot of good reviews, comes with clear and dark shield and they are on sale. I think it's a win win.
Thanks for all the input.Comment
