Well I left Commiefornia and a good union job in the oilfields to be a truck driver in Tennessee. A lot less money, but a lot more freedom. But I screwed up when we moved, I've got 2 of my 4 bikes here, and all the parts are still in storage in Crappyfornia. But I'll be back in the wind eventually.
What does everybody do for a living?

Was in the Army, 22 years. Then became a cop, then a Paramedic, then a flight medic, did DOD contract work as well.
For about a year now I am now on my schudule, on my own time. Retired. Fuck working for others. And not against you guys that run a small biz, but man, you guys have it tough. No way I would run a biz (I'm a shitty salesman anyhow) and the work ethic that seems to exist nowadays has to kill the hard working small biz owner
I spend my time now BP shooting, amateur gunsmith, traveling by scooter or RV'ng, and do what the hell I want, when I want. I shoulda done this earlier, and financially I could have, but chasing the coin was a habit. And I guess I felt that working kept me in lifes game and made me feel productive.
It never failed: When I was working, whenever I took a vacation, I felt rushed... You know, make the most of PTO accumulation and use it in conjunction with holiday weekends. And it never amounted to that much time vacationing. And then back to the same old grind.
What helped me is that I used old fashioned money sense. For 22 years I used the TSP in the Army. Even as a private I put in $200 a month and never looked at it till I retired. And I didnt buy big toys every time I got a pay raise especially the last 6 years I was in.
And I never had more than one credit card, which I used maybe 6 times in over 3 decades Refinancing the house was key as well. No shit, about 3 years ago I refinanced and dropped my mortgage by $650 a month.
I outright own my 2 trucks (2010 Tundra, 2016 GMC dually) and two scoots. No bills except mortgage, electricity and insurancesComment
