That woody is seriously bad ass. The father of one of the kids I coached restored old woodys and made a handsome living at it.

Alrighty then ...
Since I been looking at the ele window kit for about a year in a box .. Decided to get a start on the install ...
This entails a full rebuild of the doors and windows ... Gutted down the driver's side door and was doing a cleanup on all the parts..
New window tracks and cat whiskers are in hand ..
First off was to get the vent window back to good ...
The rubber seal is a re-pop that I installed (Years ago) and still is in great shape, which was a big surprise ...
Powder-coated the vent frame ..
Things was going well until I found the hinge broken ...
Both screws was there, but only one was doing the work of two, it was hanging by a thread ...
Tried to find a replacement, but didn't have much luck in that dept. .....
So .... It's time to see how well of a repair job I can do on pot-metal ...
Using the Super Alloy 1 from Muggyweld, gave it a shot ...
Holy Crapola Batman, It works .... !!

Powder-Coat First ....
Did a nice repair on the hinge ...
Laid on a Alum. look with the powder ..
The Muggyweld stuff does not take well to the heat needed to cure the powder ..
Soooooo ....
Coming up ... !!

Fixed ... Again ...
Didn't hurt the powdercoat much ...
A touch-up with Alum plaint will hide the boogers ...

The old glass channel sure gave up the ghost ... I replaced that new back when ...

West Coast Mirror mount holes are filled ...
These weld backers comes in very handy ...
Need to fill a hole in the windshield channel ...
In order to get a backer on the spot going to need a person to hold the critter while I throw sparks ..
The use of a interior creeper will be a great deal of help ...
Going to be spending a lot of time on that when I get around to rewiring the harness ..
Back when I did the Body Swap I used the complete wiring harness from the 75 GMC truck ... Back in those days they used glass fuses ...

The stainless trim polished up nice, nailed on the cat whisker to it ...
Hole be gone in the window channel ...
Once the doghouse is off will clean that up a bit better ...
Be easier to get to ...

Think it's time to install the door wire looms ...
Got a world of wires going into the doors ...
Don't have any plans for speakers (Installed speaker in the kick panels), but will go ahead and run speaker wires just in case I get a wild hair on down the road ...Last edited by Dragstews; 07-14-2022, 9:57 AM.Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment

RUST .... Boy do I hate rust .. !!
Wanted to get all the welding done on the doors before I started in on loading the interior parts ...
This spot was repaired years back and was good for a number of years ...
But rust is like the proverbial Cat ...

Body work is easy, they said ....
All ya need is a piece of sandpaper and a hammer, they said ..

Been waiting for the ordered glass setting tape to come in from Amazon ..
(Tried all the auto part stores, again with the two head thingy)
That was the last bit of work on the vent window ...
Once all the welding is done, going to load it in the door (Temporary) for having the window glass channels mounted ... Then the ele window hardware can be installed ...
Great, more rusty stuff ....
These clips holds the felt channel to the door frame ...
Not much grab is left in em ...
Looks like new will be on it's way ...

The problem is having the needed room to mount the track ..
Instructions states at least a inch, there is 1/4" that is there now ..
The door handle has a long flat rod that runs from handle to the door latch .. That is causing the problem !
Been in the think tank on how to move the latch rod to the outside of the inner door skin ...
Will be screwing up the door panel if I did that mod ..
Could move the track to the other side of the glass, But would need to make supports to run from one end of the door to the other and weld in ... Simple job just became colossal ..
My plan to cure this dilemma is load the kit on Facebook Marketplace and recoup some of the money spent ..
And go to plan "B" which should had been plan "A" ....
(I would had done plan "B" in the first place if I hadn't had smoke blown up my butt)
Plan "B" is to take the Oem window regulators and send them off to a Fellow that adds a power unit onto them ..
Twice the money that was spent for the ill fated ones that I bought, but, will be a bolt-in deal with no modifications to the door. (I like that part)Take my 45 and outrun em all ..Comment
