Beautiful.. PERFECT.
Nobody talks about it and you won't see one in a chopper mag... But I think that's a great, unsung, custom bike building tool.
Be so useful for everything from the finish work you're laying down to the planning and "trying out" stage. Where you could eyeball a dozen designs in a few minutes, and for pennies..
Quicker and cheaper than you could even trace it on the bike with a grease pencil! SVG graphics are scalable, so you can drag them around however you want till you get your look and fit.
There's just no way to go wrong with it. Good job.
I think you're teaching a bunch of people new tricks, here.Comment

And the deed is done.
Almost perfect ( for me ), however I realized when I put the tank on that the mousetrap is going to cover the US 40 sign, lol.
In a couple of days I will finish up the seat mount area and a little gold leaf work on the frame and tank then I can hit the frame with the clear and actually start assembling pretty dang soon..Last edited by DoomBuggy; 02-11-2022, 2:15 PM.Comment

Is that an issue because people run a mousetrap eliminator with foot clutch springs? It always made me wonder as so many old chops run mousetraps when most of the rest of said chop was stripped of excess parts.
Note, I have bought a mousetrap for my 51, as she's now got a ratchet top/ foot change set up.Comment

Not sure about the foot clutch spring, but a properly setup mousetrap only requires one finger to hold the clutch in at a stop. It also reduces the amount of effort to pull in the clutch so again, old hands with arthritis like mine LOVE the mouse trap. A foot clutch would be another option, but I'm enough of a klutz these days without adding that complication, lol.Comment

Step one, mask out where I want the leaf to go.
Then apply the sizing and let it set for a bit, then pull the tape and wait and wait and wait. Today it is taking about an hour and a half to set properly.
Apply the gold a sheet at a time until the whole area is covered, wipe it down with a cotton ball, and then engine turn it. I would rate my job a solid 8, I was off on my turning a bit, and seems I got sloppy with the sizing. Not an issue, just another step to clean that off.
Next step will be to add a dark detail line under the gold, then I can start to think about lettering and maybe a little artwork on the tan area. I was going to attempt to pinstripe the lines, but that just ain't going to happen. My lines are about as straight as a drunk on a three day bender.Last edited by DoomBuggy; 02-13-2022, 2:10 PM.Comment

Driving that train, high on cocaine
Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mindComment
