Default Chain doesnt fit on rachet top transmission

Need some help figuring this one out, the chain doesnt fit onto the sprocket on the trans, theres a piece of the transmission case that's preventing me to get the chain all the way onto the sprocket. The chain also looks like it gets really close to the shifter plate. It's a 530 chain from lowbrow.

Do you have the right sprocket? Turned the right way? I had an oring chain that cleared everything.

    That's a shovelhead 4speed with bearing support?

I don't know the limits on gearing on the later boxed, but as nc said, the sprocket is probably too big. Meaning you'll come into contact with material. The earlier 4 speeds take a 25/26 anything more would contact.

Are you sure there's not clearance? what tooth is it?

Remove the master link and feed the chain over the sprocket while turning the sprocket in neutral.
Replace the master link on the other side.
If it doesn't fit then there's some other problem.

That did it, was trying to feed the chain on the wheel side and pull it over the transmission sprocket, stupid mistake! Thank you!

By looking at the picture you posted I was easily able to see the problem. If only everybody would do that there'd be a lot less confusion. Glad you got it. It's what you would call a "brain fart", happens to most everyone!

Yep, I didn't even notice he was feeding it on, I saw it almost contacting the ratchet. Should have looked.
