Chain doesnt fit on rachet top transmission

Do you have the right sprocket? Turned the right way? I had an oring chain that cleared everything.

That's a shovelhead 4speed with bearing support?
I don't know the limits on gearing on the later boxed, but as nc said, the sprocket is probably too big. Meaning you'll come into contact with material. The earlier 4 speeds take a 25/26 anything more would contact.
Are you sure there's not clearance? what tooth is it?

Remove the master link and feed the chain over the sprocket while turning the sprocket in neutral.
Replace the master link on the other side.
If it doesn't fit then there's some other problem.

That did it, was trying to feed the chain on the wheel side and pull it over the transmission sprocket, stupid mistake! Thank you!

By looking at the picture you posted I was easily able to see the problem. If only everybody would do that there'd be a lot less confusion. Glad you got it. It's what you would call a "brain fart", happens to most everyone!
