Your frame is definitely fixable though man!

A friend of mine's straight leg was in a similar circumstance. It's now back and operational with his panhead. Not ideal, but I hope you choose to get her fixed.

Have you noticed any damage to the engine? are the cases and the like all in good order?

Yeah, I'll get it fixed eventually. Maybe find a donor frame with a good front half someday.

Engine looks good from what I can tell, thank God. It was tough to get the motor mount bolts out, but no cracks in the cases.

That front end can be straightened! there's people more than skilled enough to bring that back to life!

Ah that's great news, with an impact like that I always worry the front of the cases will go! look forward to see her fixed up!

Hang in there Jake, the new frames are pretty damn amazing and worth the coin. I am futzing around with a "new" dash for the fat bobs I had in the attic. Once I get that in place this build will go really fast.

Dragstews, can you work up a $$ quote for me on an Edlund version of the '47 straight leg? Stock rake and dimensions. My only concern is that my jugs are on stroker plates, so slightly taller than stock, and I want to make sure there's enough clearance to the backbone to remove the heads with the motor in the frame.

Jake you going to love this frame, I am about 3/4s of the way done mocking mine up and it has gone very well. I am stopped while I figure out what I am doing for a gas tank, but it is coming along!

Do they make a 30 degree nonbull neck?

No, but normally he does do the Edlund Knuckle neck.
It’s looks like a 28 degrees neck but will have 30 degrees.




We made it because everyone wanted 30* but no bull neck ....

Did you see the break in the rear leg of the forks? It was nearly rusted through from the inside! I'd sure hate to have an unseen issue like that after spending what stock 1947 springers are going for!!

There is available a Mini drum that is after/market, but unfortunately is mostly only a hill holder ...





And there also is a 10"disc brake unit that works much better than the stock springer drum brake does ...



Both will fit the narrowed springer ....

If you was after a more nostalgia look keeping Harley parts from yesteryear in play ...



Got room for the 72 and back Sportie drum brake ....
