Default Shovel frame forward control mount missing

This frame is an '81, did someone chop off the brake mount, or did some frames not come with it cast?

The FXE frames had that mount removed at the factory from about '78 on until the end of production (I think). The FXS, FXWG, and of course the FL frames retained the mount.

My '78 FX looked just like that, its from the factory like Jim said. I had a forward control mount welded on when I get some other frame work done.
