Default California Governor Promises to Phase Out Gasoline Engine by 2035.

California Governor Gavin Newsom Bans Sale Of Gas-Powered Cars In State By 2035, Issues Executive Order

“We need bold action,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom on Wednesday. Shortly before that statement, Newsom lived up to those words by issuing an executive order mandating that all new passenger vehicles sold in the state to be zero-emission by 2035.

The governor said bluntly, “CA is phasing out the internal combustion engine. By 2035 every new car sold in CA will be an emission free vehicle.”

What's this emission -free shit? What about the cost to the environment of creating these electric shitboxes, or any emissions created during generation of the electricity to power them?

And that part is kinda lol-hilarious considering that Cali can't keep their lights on now..

They don't have the capacity and they actually buy power from elsewhere, and they STILL end up sitting in the dark.

But HEY, I guess the argument is they will have so much extra renewable electricity laying around by 2035 it'll be easy, peasy!

    LAWL!!

Go ahead give in to your gut (mine too) and laugh at the commie mess in CA, but this will happen and nobody is shedding a tear over the gas and oil industry, they brought this on themselves with fracking onshore.

The grid updates will also happen, it's a great time to be a lineman. That should've been first on the agenda but Newsom doesn't get votes that way.

A lot of electric is appealing to me, especially on a commuter vehicle, but there is no way I could afford two cars. It's not even a viable method of transport at this point, how many nissan leafs, chevy bolts/volts do you see on the road? I've seen two bolts in two years, one in Minneapolis and one in Florida and those are being discontinued.

The ONLY reason you see Teslas is because the yuppies are begging to be seen driving them. They love parking them three hours outside chicago at the filling station, every morning they're all gathered in groups or sipping coffee in the nearby Panera. It's an experience. IMO they're ugly as fuck, huge "SUV" type rooflines that look like a chevy from '48 to '52, that goofy closed off grill face, if Chrysler came out with a body design like that it would be shunned and hit the dumpster in two years.

You also saw the brand clout anything "tesla" swings around with the recent Nikola truck scandal, that company had ZERO IP and look at the funding they had pouring in. GM should've spun that as their interest in Nikola from a branding standpoint only.

Scared that HD will go out of business? Join ABATE and work to get MCs struck from regulation--esp. restrictive noise and emissions laws. I'm willing to bet that 100% of anything worth owning will be exempt anyway.

Nice lofty thing to be able to make a ban that he won't be around to make happen, or have a answer why it didn't come to be,...oh well Governor in 2035 will have to deal with that.

Absolutely join ABATE and recruit crotch rocket and dirt riders because unity is strength.

SC ABATE is why we have adult freedom of choice (and they and car and bike dealers helped get rid of POV inspections which are pointless outside the Rust Belt but CA would never do that). Bikers can be effective but they need to recruit younger riders who ride other brands. Maybe the young guys who stunt and race would be into it.

Most of us old fucks will be pushing daisies or near it by 2035 but the younger ones who want a future need to fight for it.

Fortunately piston engines can run on hydrogen but at that point it would just make more sense to move to a free state since by then firearm laws will look like England's and overcrowding and traffic will make moving a great idea even if ya don't ride a bike.

The scariest thing about this is the use on an executive order for an action that will have such a huge impact. In 2018 California new car sales were about 2,000,000 units, 90% of which were non-electric or hybrid. Use an average cost of $30,000 a unit this is over 50 billion dollars of business wiped out not by the state legislature but by the governor's pen. If Trump did something like this at a federal level the Demos would be screaming about how he is a dictator worse they Hitler. But a Demo does it nothing but the sound of sheep bobbing their heads in agreement. So happy I got out of CA when I did!
