Default 87-03 Sportster Forward Control Removal

So I'm throwing on a new exhaust and I have to switch to mid controls which I'm completely ok with. I'm trying to remove the pivot shaft off the forward controls without taking the front motor mounts off the bike. Does anyone have any tips?

There are so many different versions of Sportster forward controls, we're going to need pictures to help you figure this out. Most of them are shafts simply threaded/bolted into the motor mount, some are welded. If yours are welded you would be better off taking the mounting plate off and cutting it. It's not a big deal to remove the plates. Takes a couple of minutes. Support the weight of the motor with a jack and take the plates off.

I just took my forwards off a few days ago and replaced them with mids, I swapped the motor mounts too. Didn't even take 5 minutes to do the swap.
