    stretching a shaft drive

I want to stretch my rear of the bike out. And I have a shaft. Is it possible to get the shaft machined and add an extra three inches or so to it?

im doin mine right now. i didnt use to drive shafts though. just cut mine in half. turned some round stock to size and welded it in. took some tubeing, drilled holes in it(for plug welds) then cut it in half length-wise. and welded it all together on the shaft. a lot of welding but that bitch is bullet proff and straight.
