During my road side fix to get my self home I was passed by at least 10 bikes. All local, all "know me" (not personally but in a I see you like 3 times a week), all of them wave. NONE stopped to see what was up or if I needed help. I have stopped waving to them and have gotten some wtf looks from them. I hope we run into each other where we can talk and they bring up why I don't wave anymore.

I will return a wave no doubt but if somebody is on the side of the road especially a local, stop for crying out loud...

Simple. If its someone ya think ya know then go ahead. Its not tough to recognize the dif between a CC kinda person vs a Hog member. I'll take the chance and wave or just nod my head if I see somebody I think I recognize. I also try to always give a nice gesture to people who scoot over for me when splitting lanes. I really appreciate it when they do that!

Being a guy who rides through traffic to work everyday, I always wave at the guys who scoot over, too. It drives me crazy thought when the guy with the HD sticker on the back of his SUV refuses to give an inch so I can squeeze through. It's like people are mad that I might get somewhere before them and try everything they can to impede my progress! OK, off topic, never mind, you just pushed my biggest pet peeve button.

Oh yeah, I wave back if someone waves. Although I'd just as soon do away with the wave.

Wave & wave back! There's nothing wrong with being nice to people...

I'm decidingly anti-anti-wave -not that I want you to wave but I decided since the safety people told me not to, it's a good idea to wave - thanks Mike Seate

I love waving! It's my favorite thing in the world. I wave at everything! even cops. My favorite thing to
do is when splitting lanes up to the traffic light, I'll move really super slow & peek inside every vehicle &
give a big wave while smiling!, Sometimnes I'll break out the authorized factory dark customs approved
(& blessed by willie G himself) ultra mark III limited edition spirit bell & jingle it while waiting for the
light to change, gives Me a warmmy feeling inside.

I always wave, because to me it feels like a sign of acknowledgement more than anything. If I'm in the truck and see a biker, I low wave out the window too...just to give them some reassurance that they are being spotted.

Its a sign of respect from fellow riders, so Im good with it. I wont initiate the wave but I always return it.

What the hell is the matter with being friendly? I can understand when someone calls you "bro" and you don't like it, as that is a term not to be used lightly. But a simple wave?!?!? Guess I'm just not that hardcore.

....wave at your own discretion! Maybe we should all throw both hands to each side of our sickle, arms hanging low, with both hands flashing the number 3, (hence ending up with a 33) to show our allegiance to the cult!

NOW, I gotta admit, I feel a little GHEY, just for the fact that I just spent 7 minutes of my morning reading through this thread, and still ended up posting!

to each hith own; pretty inconsequential, but I've had some good laughs reading this thread.

Personally I usually like my hands right where they are--hanging on while I swing from my apehangers.

I'll usually return the wave with something, but often have the thought in my head "why are we doing this?"

I think the jeep wave is a little ridiculous but the "biker" wave seems to actually say something, like, "Hi, how are you, I see you're trying to survive these idiot cagers as well, have a wondeful day"

I wave and return waves most of the time. Like Revelator I even wave at cops, sometimes they have even returned the wave. If I see a cop checking for speeders (about once a week on the 76 in Oceanside) I always give the upstream bikers the signal of the rotating beacon by circling my hand above my head instead of waving. Another biker saved me a ticket by doing that and I am trying to pass that favor on.

My old man was riding in the 1950s ...

Taught me to always wave to another rider and to stop and help 'em if they were broke down.

I guess it took. I do both.

Way past trying to be cool.
