81 fxe, kick only, points. Bare minimum wiring(no turn signals, no horn etc.) What coil should I be using? 5 ohm or 3 ohm? Any suggestions on what’s a good brand?

For a points and coil ignition, you want a 5 ohm coil. A 3 ohm coil draws too much current and that burns points.
The Dynatek coils have always been good, and I also use & sell the Andrews 5 ohm coil. Only had one failure that I know of, in dozens sold over the years.

The only andrews I see is the 4.8 ohm. That is good, right?
