Shovelhead skid plate hole?

Why? They painted it with the hole being in there, can’t figure out if I’m missing something.

Delcron cases with sump plate had a plate with provision for an oil return fitting at that location (drag race/hot rod stuff). Might be the reason.

Thank you, the cases are in fact Delkron. I bought this current basket in a fully disassembled status outside of the motor and transmission. Other then ensuring compression I have yet to do anything with the engine outside of storing it well so far. Very helpful JB
