    oil pump question

heres one for the hardly dangerous experts, on the cast iron oil pump bodies from the late 30's to 66 big twins. In the passage for the pressure valve there is a small 1/16" roll pin. What was it put there for? I have no idea.

It's to keep the check ball from lifting off its seat and then being forced sideways and blocking the drilling to the pressure relief valve.

I don't think so. the hole size in the area of the pin is .298. The ball is .375. The ball would never reach the pin. But good idea tho

Let me retract that. I just put a ball in and held the body sideways and sure enuff it won't set in the pressure hole. Good call Jim
