Don't be surprised by the lack of US coverage of the bikes and builders of Japan and/or the Mooneyes show in Yokohama every December…
Traveling to Japan is murderously expensive, and most US-based chopper photojournalists earn meager freelance fees at best for their work.
Most young shooters work for free to build their portfolios, then use those portfolios to land paying gigs with companies and advertising agencies.
I've been to Mooneyes twice, and only one US-based chopper rag was on hand to cover the event: Matt and Dean from DicE.
Until companies like Performance Machine, Drag Specialties and Kuriakyn start parking their semi's at events like Mooneyes and the Smokeout, editors from glossy rags will keep shooting baggers with apes at Laughlin and Daytona.
The web's still your best bet for looking at dope bikes. Google "Japanese Choppers" and you'll see what I mean.Last edited by Guest; 08-06-2010, 12:07 PM.Comment
