Only installed two of the Rivera kits, those boys didn't have any problems, but both those scoots had ele. starters on them ..
Most likely the kicker seen very little usage ... ??

Can the threads strip if the engine kicks back on you?

Does look like that could be a possibility ...
The Rev-Tech kits also used a design very similar that had a screw on extension to housed the starter clutch gears ..

Installed a few of those kits, they worked, but really added alot to the trans by sticking out pretty far ..

Also no problems occurred with 0 feed back from the owners ..

And if used often will it make it harder to service the tranny later?
    Could be ... ??
I'm with ya, I think a one piece mainshaft with having the room for the starter clutch gear would be a better design, but that's back to a much longer trans ..

I'm not sure what to tell you, but for give it a try and see how well it works outs for ya ...

These re-pop heads don't come with the rocker arm studs or dowels ..
Tis a wee bit of a chore installing them cause they have a interference fit ...

    There's one ...

On to the other head ..
Soon to load valves and pack the springs for the cam grind ..

Kool find on the black kicker kit. Please add one to the pile.

Not directly on topic but the Aircraft Spruce catalog is insanely nice including mag and other testers, chemicals ya don't see in auto stores, tools of all sorts and a shitload more. Also a handy source for dye penetrant kits for those old castings. Download is 70MB and worth it or leave the dead tree version in the bathroom for thoughtful perusal:

I'm beginning to like the super-size S&S bird defector more since it's been here in the shop for months ..
At first wasn't all that fond of it, but it's growing on me now ..

Guess the reason I'm liking it is, it offers a bit of air filtration to a degree and still retains the looks of yesteryear parts ...
(A/C made by "FORK" in Japan)

Dangit ... Keep forgetting to order chrome bolts for intake to carb ... !!
By making this comment here will spur the brain cells a tad .. And get em on order ..

BTY .. Carb support bracket to top motor mount is a "W&W Cycle" item .. Made from Stainless Steel and can shine up to look like chrome ..

Yeah, I asked the owner if he wants me to do a full polish job on it .. ??

So far he hasn't got back to me as of yet ...

Kinda wild how it's made ...

The two-piece backing plate sandwiches the foam filter element.

Don't offer much filtration, but might keep the Florida skeeters out .. ??

Too bad it uses foam but a fabric element would have been (probably) prohibitively expensive for show bike stuff.

Freshly machined parts are satisfying. (fapfapfapfapfapfap)

BTW I'll spotface the kit ramps when I do the gearbox but please order a Baker throwout bearing (just the replacement wafer bearing set, I don't need the ramps since I spotface any set for the Baker) so I'll have that come assembly time.

Since you build gofasties you might offer the service to customers with hefty clutches or who just hate the stock dime-sized wafer bearing and want to run a five or six speed kicker.. As Baker don't make a spotfaced ramp set for that kicker there's no other way to run the larger diameter wafer bearing with that kit.

For the hobby machinists here the easy way is chuck a rod in the mill quill to center the ramp (supported on parallels in the milling vise) using its hole as the cut need not be perfectly centered just within a few thou. That's because the washers on wafer bearings are the bearing races so all spotfacing ramps does is smooth the casting.

The wafer bearing is a standard size but I can't find the info I saved or remember who posted it on another forum. Measurements should tell the tale though (stack thickness and center hole ID) and once that's known anyone can upgrade any set of Evo or same-style Twinkie ramps for the bearing the ballgarglers at HD should have used in the first place.
