Lost thread ... Replacement .. Sputhe 5 ina 4 Trans
I like the shortening of the bump stop to keep the kicker arm straight. I put a later 4 speed in a VL frame once. Kicker slanted forward, add to the bump stop?. We cut in front of the tranny, heated and bent the tranny mount level. Now arm was straight. have seen people make shims/wedges ect for VL. Like this idea of modifying the bump stop a whole lot better. I hate the look of the arm not being straight.
Modifying the bump stop seems to be the easiest way to get the arm to look like it should ...
Now that the adapter had the bolts holes countersunk, time is at hand to flow-in the kick cover to adapter and adapter to case and then polish .. Again ...
Some welding will be needed to fill a few low spots on the adapter ...
After that work has been completed, tranny will be ready for final assembly ...
Gotta say, running up on that Vegas adapter & shaft was a stroke of luck ...
Sputhe got in touch with me and said if we wanted to get back the money for their shaft, that we are not using, they have a Fellow that would buy it ..
Need a Yay or a Nay and let them know so they can set up the deal or not ..
Hey Jesse,
How about a "tutorial" on your polishing process.
Aaaaaaaa .... That sounds like a lot of typing !! ...
Re-doing the flow-in on the new to us adapter ..
Got a nice lip on the Sputhe case to grind down, kinda wished the adapter had the lip instead of the case since it's already been polished ..
But it is what it is ...
