Default Harley 4 speed groove worn in clutch pushrod

Recently took my trans out of my bike to paint the frame and noticed there is a groove worn into the clutch pushrod (picture 1). I placed the pushrod on top of the trans to see where the grinding is taking place (picture 2). Not sure where this is coming from, the shaft should be protected by the mainshaft at this location right?

Roll the pushrod on something flat to see if it's bent. If so, replace it, if not, ignore it. See if there is swarf in the mainshaft.
