    Rear tire alignment issues

    Hello everyone

I'm trying to line up my rear tire with my backbone on my hardtail shovelhead. My chain is rubbing up against the frame due to the brake caliper bracket. I'm wondering what my options are.

    I could:

-shave down my frame's tube that its touching

    -shave down the caliper

-find another sprocket that'll give me the clearance

    -find a different wheel.

Below is a little info on the bike along with pics.

    1974 fxe

    Voodoo vintage hardtail

    Fab Kevin rear brake bracket

You have the caliper on the wrong side of the bracket (or vice versa, depending on how you look at it).

        centralise the tyre,
then the chain, if needed use a sprocket with an offset dish to it so the chain lines up
& then fit the calliper so the disc is as close to centre as you can & it should be fine,....
are you using wheels from the bike or from another another model Harley ?.
if it's from the same bike and still will not line up, the hardtail might be incorrectly fitted

I'm using the same tire from the original bike. I was told this is mounted properly and I may need a different caliper

Like Jim said above about the caliper bracket and what tzienlee said about setting it up.

Is that an offset (or dished) sprocket? can't tell from the pic. If so, get a flat one.

If you remove your caliper, bracket and spacer from that side, then line up the rear sprocket first, you can get a better idea of what you will need for the brake side.

a bit trickier with a mag wheel...may need to offset the wheel a bit, a bit, to get the chain aligned and brake to fit.
If buildin' old school choppers was easy, anyone could do it... ain't nobody said it's gonna be easy...

OP What you need to do is take everything off of the wheel..... caliper spacers etc..... Get the chain where it clears the frame then start measuring....

It looks to be dished and turned inside.... But we will see what he say's he has......

Do you have 9.25" between the inside of the axle plates. Start there first.

It is a flat sprocket. I will double check after work today and will also measure in between the plates today.

I will also take off the bracket and get the chain aligned and check my spacing.

                          I'll post my measurements.

                          Thanks guys

When you get everything off of the axle, line the chain up with the chain at least a 1/4 away from the frame and step back and take a pic....
