I have a set of old panhead heads. What’s the best way to clean these up? Click image for larger version

I'd soak the whole thing down in kroil and let it sit overnight before attempting to take it apart if it's that corroded. Then after its stripped bare clean it off with brake clean or gasoline or whatever to get the oil off it before glass beading . Check with others on here if there are sensitive areas you might want to keep away from with the glass beading such as the seats. Glass bead gets into everything , after it is air blown off I've seen parts left to soak in gasoline afterwards to remove more that wasn't seen before reassembly.

I think that would be a good set to test out the vapor blasting guys. It would make a terrific before and after thats for sure. Probably cost a small fortune tho. Wasnt dusty dave boiling aluminum in pinesol with good results? Maybe pinesol only works on Indians? LOL!

Works on most anything that's greasy n crusty. Use real Pine Sol the knockoffs have the wrong acid. Don't heat it to boiling I usually keep it as hot as I can stand to put my hands in. Occasionally stir things around and a little elbow grease on a pot scrubber will hurry things along. When you are through skim the oil off the top and strain it through a rag, it'l work several times. OBTW you can only get away doing it in the house if you are single and don't I repeat don't decide that adding it too the dishwasher will save time, the suds were knee deep in the kitchen and anke deep in the next room.

Casey Jones you better, watch your speed
                Trouble ahead, trouble behind
And you know that notion just crossed my mind
