Older wide glides and springers (Harley) run 24 tpi. Its 24 tpi for both 1 inch stem and 7/8th

Lower trees are common but if you're sufficiently bored and have lathe access you could turn off the threads, weld shaft to full diameter, then turn to above major diameter and thread however you wish.

A good way to hold a triple clamp in a lathe is by faceplate or four jaw chuck and support the stem in a steady rest then center drill so you can support the stem with the tail stock.

Other alt option, turn a non-stupid stem design and swap stems.

Best option: Buy a replacement (and a new nut to match it) then install with anti-seize and solve it the easy way.

Since I’ve been away I have:

Ordered A custom seat to be made by B&C cycles. Rear fender, struts, sissy bar. 10 weeks out.

I have all new hardware and bearings for the front end coming.

Horseshoe oil tank. On its way.

TC Bro’s sold out of extended forks. So I’ll have to wait to pick those up. Still can’t decide if I want to run a front brake or not.

I also figured out the problem within chopcukt on the photos for some reason it ads “config” to your photos when you up load them if you delete “=config” from [ Attach ] it won’t upload your photos sideways.

Enjoying this thread. So much nostalgia as they were the bikes around when I was growing up that made me want a HD.

Sorry I don’t have anything more constructive to offer than it looks great...

Got my oil bag in. Going to fab up a bracket to split the difference between the down rear frame and seat post tube. It’s exactly 1 Pepsi can from the swing arm. High quality measuring tools required lol

Looking at the way it mounts without adjustment I think it sits a little too low for my taste.

Also got new intake seals and straps.
It’s amazing I got the bike to idle with the seals it had on it.

Got my oil tank in and I didn’t like the way it sat in the frame so I fabbed up a bracket to attach to the existing bracket on the seat tube. Sits in the frame much better now.

I’m worried that prefabbed rabbit ear bars will not have enough rise . I would like to control that. My plan is to find some big assed ape hangers and cut them just before the bend for the risers. That way I can control and play with the rise and pull back of the bars and really dial in what I want out of them.

Here is my 84' Low Rider. It has 78' Low Rider tanks. I'm getting rid of the forward controls and going to factory mids. Next year I plan to ditch the 35mm forks for 39mm with dual disk setup.

Generally not a fan of post-Evo shit but HD did well with this IMO.
Are you running stock length forks now? I seen thread you posted your shovel has 4” over tubes. Really liked it stance. I can’t decide on 4”-6” over.

Well, I got the forks ordered. Going to run with 4” over as I am impatient and 6” havnt been in stock for a while. Next up I’ll be fabbing up a dual headlight bracket and cutting down some apes for my own rabbit ears.

If you look juuuuust right T-Bars can look like rabbit ears.

Just got back from AZ and a weeks long visit with my dad. Time to get back on the Swingarm Chopper build with my load of new parts. Can’t wait to put the extended forks on.
