    Donut Hopper

Well I guess I’m back. Like a addict who gets a new dealer ”I’ll never be back”...until there’s no other options.

Introducing the “Donut Hopper”, a 77 KZ1000P being shoehorned into an Amen Savior plunger frame.

The frame was given to me by a bro who I was building a frame for. A cb750 plunger that belonged to a friend who I believe had passed. The engine was seized and never made it to me.

About a year later a buddy had to move out of state. He wasn’t able to take his bike, the cobbled together kz1000p. I wound up with it in trade for a couple of my hand forged knifes.

It dawned on me that the 2 should become 1, shortly there after. I slipped the big block into the frame and saw it needed to be widened to fit between the rails. That’s where I’m at basically.

1st I’ll need to get the rear motor mount bolt in. With the temporary front mounts undone/removed it should clock into place.

After that I’ll spread the lower rails until the case drops between them.

Put it back together using parts from the kz and a few from the leftovers pile.
The kick stand is interfering with the exhaust so it will have to be relocated at some point. Unless I get my hands on a 4into1...

Good job on getting that engine in there. Don't forget the important larger bottom engine bolts; there is a cavity up in the bottom of the case for the 'triangular' nut to fit into:

              Thanks for the info.
I do have those triangle nuts and will be fabing mounts for them. The whole thing will have to come apart to weld a few tight spots and strip for paint.

I banged up a light mount before calling it last night.

Wow. So much about this thread is win. Someday I'll do a police KZ

Not sure I've ever seen anyone mount a headlight like that before. Pretty genius actually. Especially handy for those of us who like to ditch our Kawasaki gauges and wonder what to do with those studs...I may have to borrow that idea on a future build. Pretty impressed man

Pulled the front end back off to do some clean up. Hit all the painted parts with paint stripper, followed by a wire wheel on the bench grinder. The lower tree is steel so it got splattered with gloss black. The rest of the pieces either Crome or aluminum got the buffet treatment.
The fork tubes were pitted and rusty so they got the same treatment. Then whipped them down with mineral spirits. Kinda gave it a polished patina look.
I thought about axing all the mounts on the fork legs but I haven’t ruled out using the dual discs up front. Might be a good idea as it should be pretty quick! We will have to see how that pans out.

Cut the kick stand off and the exhaust lays in nice! I think the stock H pipe will fit!
Thinking about making it a center stander...
