    Had this issue with my Shovel, and found my clutch pushrod wasn't hardened at the ends and was shortening itself! Worth a look? Could this also happen with clutch release bearing wear as mentioned elsewhere?

    Aargh! Just got to say my problem wasn't with the bike in neutral!! My mistake..

    With the kicker, you could. No oil in the transmission, so don't run it too long. And be careful, chains are not forgiving.
