    Late 73 xlch primary question

I picked up a second hand chain primary to convery my belt driven sportster back to chain, and the front sprocket doesnt seem to be the original, as it doesnt have the compensator setup.... is it safe to run these without the compensator

Yes, most XLs from like '75 and newer had solid motor sprockets. Check the seal surface on a used sprocket and dress off any burrs that might damage the seal.

always had solid crank sprocket on my 71 xlch....think the xlh's had comps for starter issues...not needed on ch's
