Got out twice yesterday and once the day before. It's a rocky birdsnest at the bottom of those dams. Hahaha. Lost all but one of my bucktails and a couple sluggos. Thinking I need some heavier stuff as they had the dams running full on, TON of current. Thought about throwing some darters or needlefish but I'm guessing those stripers are on the bottom or close to it. Also don't want to lose my good plugs in there. Couple hits yesterday, but nothing yet. Saw a guy pull a couple decent hybrids.
It's like learning a new beach, gotta go out a slap the water a good few times before figuring out what works.
Raring to get out there again, trying to see if there's anywhere local open that I can re-up on bucktails and mono leader. I'm sore from swinging the 10'6" with a penn 706z, forgot how heavy that thing is. I'm thinking an 8' medium heavy casting setup would work well....I have a Abu 6500c4 sitting around already loaded with 40lb braid..
Just what I needed, another expensive hobby to get back into. hahahaComment

Taking on that much water sucks!
Worked for a guy who a Trophy Deep Sea Angler, used go to Mexico in the winter for Marlin. Came back one year and told a story of how the mate died. Seems he was new at the job and when they brought a fish to the side, he grabbed the leader and took a wrap around his hand, the fish rallied and headed for the deep. They last image of the mate was the soles of his shoes as he & the fish headed for the bottom......That's why Crappie are fun....guess you could choke on a bone, but what the hell, live fast I always say.Comment
