    38 el knukle information

Almost struck a deal to buy a knucklehead el 38 pre war. I know that the belly numbers need to be on them and want to know if someone could help me for what else to check for because its a lot of money and i need to make sure. Casting numbers and so on and which places to check.

    Thank you!

Honestly , your better off going to the a.m.c.a board for that type of information .

PS: I dunno if it will help, for sure.. But you can get a knuckle version for about 9 bucks on Kindle, and read it right now online..

The shovel version has some info in it.

Search the author - There's a knuckle version available. The first part of the series.

This is not a question your going to get a definite answer to anywhere.............. You really need to do your homework to keep from loosing your ass...................

But it also depends on what you think is a lot of money for a Knuck..............

It might not be that much money for those in the know..............

I'm not AMCA expert but this look like a possible restamp to me

Belly number should be 38-XXXX and be the same on both side for the engine to be "matching cases"
Here I read 22- so it could be aftermarket cases

Some people with more knowledge needed to confirm but I say beware

Here's a 38 belly number that I believe to be correct

I became curious about these things once after someone asked a question about it, and on the first page of this thread, I searched and linked a bunch of screen caps of actual harley numbers from a couple of sources.. Perhaps that will help?

Alright boys, I'm in a doozie of a pickle here. I picked up a old pan shovel with a numbers matching clean title at a swap meet a while back worked on it a bit and decided to let it go a couple weeks ago to pay some bills and work on my other project. fella comes up buys it off me running riding bike with a title. fella calls

I know there is a big difference in the number shapes through the years that make a lot of the phonies easy to spot.

                      Good luck!!
