    53fl rebuild

Came across a 53fl (just motor). Always wanted a panhead so went for it. Im on CC quite a bit, usually just searching for info so thought maybe some other guys can benefit from my noob efforts at working on this motor.
Pulled cam to see what was in it, inner bushing came out with cam, so that is my start.

Sending heads off to Jims (who has been a big help already) to be checked, valves done, etc...

This weekend doing complete dissasembly of lower end. I'll have plenty of questions for you guys along the way and hopefully this will be useful to some other guys. Pictures soon....

Looks like it has a Knuckle breather valve ..

Has the cam bushing been spinning in the case ?
You may get by with using a oversize ..?

I dont think the bushing was spinning in the case, but when i went to pull cam to i.d. it the bushing just pulled out with it. I dont know a whole lot of the history of the motor, it was an abandoned project by previous owner....ideas/direction welcomed. Im trying to do as much of the work myself (to gain the knowledge), the goal being a basic reliable rebuild....

Once a new bushing has been installed and pinned, ya might see a need to line ream it ..

Yes, the dowel pin was in the bushing, so it wouldnt spin but was a loose fit. I pulled it out with a small amount of force, but by hand. I have been looking at the line ream operation online, Ive got to get the right tools...thanks for the pictures
