    Default 48' Head rework ....

How in the Hell did they get a Shovelhead intake valve (1.950") to seat on the bronze seat ?!?! .... Can't wait to take it apart .. !!

Ok ... Now I see how it was done ... Had a seat replacement done to it ...

    Whoa ... !!
Will ya look at where it's been seating at on the face of the valve ....

Will the owner please speak up with some needed info...
Like the cam grind that these heads will be singing a song with ....

Found something else that causes me to .....

I seen some poor fitting keepers before, but this has got to be the worst of all.
    It's as if it has 7* locks in a 10* hole ... !!!

Damn that's ugly, wait that's mine, shit!

Cam is an S&S model 330-0164. I believe it is an H-Grind.

So why all the damn oil in there?

The goal on this motor was easy to start and reliable runner, nothing more, nothing less.

Tom had said the heads were a sorry sight and he recommended finding a set of '56 heads...

Keep in mind this was the motor where all the gaps on the rings were aligned and the pistons were backwards in the holes.

It was a wonder it ever ran at all, it was however a show bike only so there was almost no wear on the cylinders when we stripped it down.

The oil could be coming from the guides .. Not the inside where the valve works, but the outside where the guide is pressed into the head ...

I'll get em cleaned up by running em though the jet washer and then do a oven warm-up.. If a guide is loose in the head it'll show up ...

I really don't like those springs ... Could be a bad nightmare waiting to happen ...
Sure would be nice to install some KPMI's and the valves are nothing to write home about, some Black Diamond sure would be nice to do to the ole Gal too ....

Add the right parts into the price and we can see where we end up. I don't mind putting a bit more into it if I need to.

I want this damn bike to run without blowing up or pissing all over me pants leg.

The other place it was bubbling out was around the spark plug holes.

Based on the mechanical pieces of art coming out of your shop you may find this hard to believe, but some of us just want a nice easy to start, smooth, "long lasting" motor, lol.

If I wanted to go fast I would have to sell one of my daughters and I have grown fond of both of them!

Ya can make another on the side to trade for bike parts. We won't tell.
What's a few minutes of grunting for a lifetime of horsepower?

    The formula is simple:
    Buy classic motorbike.
    Remove gas cap.
Replace the rest of the motorcycle.
    Reinstall gas cap.
If gas cap needs work, replace that, too.

I'm going to make a video of the wobble and post ...

With the spring pressure on the keepers shows nothing ...
What the problem is, the foot contact of the keepers in the retainer ...
Only about 10% of the keeper contact patch is working ... If that much .. ??
