Interesting, do you install like that Jesse? as in, gudgeon pin with piston preloaded in the jug?

Not seen it done that way! don't suppose it matters as long as it all fits!

When I build a motor from ground up, the pistons are loaded onto the rods and then the jugs goes on ...

Using a homemade plate keeps the piston from dancing while trying to load the jug ..

DB doesn't have the luxury of specialty tools so he asked me to load em in the jugs.
The gapless rings are a bit tricky to load, so this work out pretty well ...

Hot Damn, in celebration I decided to polish up a set of cast D-Rings. One down, one to go.

And I do appreciate you putting those plugs in their holes for me. Gots me lots of special Pontiac tools, but not too many HD motor tools!

LOL, my life is rapidly transitioning from money but no time to time but no money.

I think it is a more than fair trade off.

Should have all the parts rounded up today ....

                    I do have a request ..
Since there was very little wear showing on the pistons, I really can't say for sure how well the pistons are running in their perspective bores ...

There a few ways to go about checking this condition ....

This way of doing that job is using a Jim's checking pin...
                    Checking Pin Procedure .....

                    1. Insert checking pin into wristpin hole. Place strips of
paper between checking pin and crankcase cylinder
gasket surface and apply slight downward pressure
to wristpin end of rod by rotating flywheels. Pull
papers out slowly. Drag on papers should be equal.

                    2. Rotate flywheels in opposite direction until
checking pin contacts cylinder gasket surface again.
Repeat procedure to rod again. If drag on papers is
equal no bending is required. If one paper is loose,
use rod bending tool to tweak rod in direction of
                    loose paper and recheck.

                    3. Repeat checking and bending procedure for the
                    other rod.

                    Or .....

If found to be running crocked, a bit of tweaking the rod will be needed ...

Welp, I would need to find me one of those there pins or plates, etc.

When we pulled the motor apart originally Tom used one of those plates to check the rods. At that time they were running true.

I know that was then and this is now. Let me see what I can do.

I should have the test pin next week. Let me know once you have the bill figured out

Looks like I will be locked down for a few days yet!
