Here's my game plan with the valve guides ...

Going to heat the heads up to around 300/350 degrees ...
Want to move em up a bit in the bores so a good coating of Fluid Weld can be applied ...

That stuff will seal any leaks going down the sides of the guides ...

Not all that fond of disturbing the guides, but will be using this tool to push them back in their bores ....

    Concentric to the seat ....

(Say Tatt .... Ya keeping up here Buddy ?? Lol)

The Mo-Co used gaskets under the guides ....
On these heads the gaskets has been omitted ...

    Hummmmmmmm

    I have a thought .....

Since I plan on using the KPMI Black Diamond valves, I could replace these cast iron guides with their special composite bronze guides...
Using these two components together allows for a super tight running fit...
Intakes will see .0008" to .0012" and the exhaust gets .0012" to 0.0016" ....
With the fitment that close, there is little need for valve guide seals.... Maybe after 50 or 60,000 miles at least .. !!

Those Boys got it going on with today's materials .... (Not your Grandfather's Valve Guides) ...

I would really love to spend time at your shop learning this stuff, you seem to have all the right toys ( and more importantly the knowledge to go with them ), I am impressed

Sweet, I am stoked to get these back. The bike ran well as it was, but I expect it to be that much better!

So what is the plan for the oil coming out around the spark plugs? Or are you thinking this will cure it?

What do you recommend for gluing the sound deadening pieces inside the valve covers? Whatever was used is only holding so-so and I would like to reglue them before I reassemble the motor.

Intakes are honed to running fit ..

    So are the exhaust ...

Dang near could lap a seat on em, but will do three angles to locate on the face of the valves ..
