How are ya'll running foot clutches on your evo Sportys?
Alrighty folks, I'm trying to go footclutch on my 1995 Sportster.
I WHEEELY don't want to run a cable, as half the point of a footclutch for me is getting rid of another failure point (the cable), so that being said, I've been racking my brain as to how to run a solid linkage or chain and I can't figure it out.
I've made my own footclutch on my xs650 by using a bolt, in-place of the clutch pushrod adjuster set-screw, and then welding a plate to that bolt and drilling it for the linkage, but can you do that with a Harley? Not seeing a good way of doing it as the clutch adjustment is hidden under a cover.

You could copy hydraulic clutches which use rods like the Metmachex or Magura but move the rod mechanically.

Since the Sporty clutch uses a pull rod with a ball ramp for leverage you could machine a much longer screw to place another ball ramp outside the cover then actuate that with ordinary linkage. The assembly could be machined to screw in just like that screw-in hydraulic clutch kits.

The real point of a foot clutch is Kool unless the rider is handicapped. Bowden cables are used because they are durable, flexible and versatile. Hydraulics are used for feel and because people like spending money. (I don't care for them as tiny hydraulic systems don't age well.) Countless aircraft flight controls rely on (properly designed) cable systems.
Decide how much work ya wanna do for how much reward. Millions of Ford Mustangs run cables.
