Thread: Front sprocket

    Default Front sprocket

Whatís up, new to the forum. Currently building a 95 sportster. Running into the issue right now of chain conversion. I already have two rear sprockets, I already have a chain, but the only place I can find a front sprocket is in the after market conversion kits. I donít want to spend a kit when I only need the front sprocket. Iím under the understanding that 95 evos only came belt driven, so if anyone knows whereís I could get the front sprocket after market would be awesome thank you.

The '91 and maybe '92 XLs were chain driven, and a factory sprocket from those models will fit your five speed. No special parts needed. You can put a 1/4" spacer behind the chain sprocket, and use the big twin four speed offset rear wheel sprocket for extra clearance if running, say, a 150 or 160 rear tire.

Factory part # for the stock 21 tooth sprocket is 37709-89. You get this sprocket in tooth counts from 19T to 24T from Drag Specialties dealers. They are made by PBI in the USA. These sprockets can also be used for chain conversions of five speed big twin transmissions. I usually use a 1/4" spacer behind those, and the four speed big twin sprocket.
