I've shot around with a lot of different guns, at this point. In fact, I'd say I've shot about everything in one capacity or another except a glock.

I know the difference between a short barrel and a full barrel, and I, like everybody else, prefer a full barrel when I can get one.

But I'm looking for something small and compact that I can slip into the waistband of my tight as pants. I'm looking for something dependable and simple, and something that will go BOOM whenever I point it at someone and pull the trigger.

Right now, I'm basically between the M&P Shield and the Glock 26. The main thing Is I know the 26 is a little more stubby and wide, which makes it a little more bulky -- but people also swear by these things (but people who give the Shield a shot ALSO get stoked on those).

Basically, I'm still on a budget, and want to know if the 26 is REALLY worth the extra 150-200 bucks.

    Dude.

In the gun world, people argue over everything.

But the one thing that most ALL recruits agree on... The Glock is basically a revolver for how often that thing fires. Shitty ammo, +p, reloads...

Look at this video... Thousands of rounds at full auto and hardly any failures.

Yes the Austrian Power Pistol is worth it.

    I think he still does...
    Go with the Glock...

    I like the XD3

    And the man's right...

Gun guys make the no class asses defending dusty look like the quiet type - - all they do is argue over who's tactical tactics are more on point...

    Me?

I'd go with the NAA 380...

I know Im not CRFYOU, but Ive got an M&P Shield 9mm and it has never let me down. Great gun that you can break down quickly and change the grips quickly to tailor it a bit more.

I mean, there's no reason I can't eventually own both, or sell one for another. I think for now I'll go with the shield. I just need something quick, reliable, cheap, and small enough to fit in my waistband. sounds like the shield is my huckleberry.

I used to have an arsenal of toys. 3 ARs (a Daniel defense, S&W, and a home built) An AK, mosin m44, glock 26,19,30, shield 9mm and a few pump 12g. Now just have the glock 19.

Why does it have to be between the Shield and the G26? The Glock 43 is a more direct competitor to the Shield. It's the little single stack 9mm and shoots like a champ. It's about an eighth of an inch thinner than the 26 (which doesn't sound like much but makes a huge difference. Also, I'd steer clear of the Shield. S&W is a good company and all but I've seen a 9 Shield develop some pretty massive cracks in the slide, which you'll never see on a Glock

I actually wasn't even aware of the 43. I don't know shit about glocks, truthfully.

The G43 is actually about $100-125 cheaper than the G26 as well. I'd definitely carry one over a Shield. I'd take what I have to say with a grain of salt, though. I am a gun salesman

The store that I work at has 26s at $599 and 43s at $485. You might even be lucky enough to snag a used one in the $350-400 range

Have the Kahr CM45, CM9 and CW380. Not one single failure in any of them yet. Solid as rocks. They are all under $350 each.

You must have all three. Like womens shoes, one for each occasion and season.

The slimmer G43 sounds super appealing to me, but I bought the G26 before that came out...

I have this beautiful Sig Sauer P938 New in the box coming my way for $600. CA allows 3 guns on your CCW permit. So it's the Sig, G26, and my Smith & Wesson 442(gotta have a revolver).

I live in a strict state. Accidentally printing can lose me my CCW permit.

I get that there are some gnarly dudes with a full size 1911. I keep my full size 1911s at work and home in strategic locations. If I had a heads up, I'd rather gun with those over the compacts.

    I should have clarified.

Orange County Sheriff is the issuing agency for me. It's their rules.
