Hornady now has ZOMBIE specific ammo. I think it's their critical defense ammo but with green tips.
The Zombie craze certainly is driving sales. Mossberg certainly is cashing in with their recent line of BS shotguns. Chainsaw, Roadblocker, and that other abortion with the fake suppressor.

I figured this is a better place to ask this question than to start a thread for it. I've been raised around sporting guns and pistols my whole life but I don't know much about military guns. anyways this dude wants to trade me one of two rifles for a computer I have next to no money in I have a choice between 7.62 x 54r or a 1936 French mas 7.5 I don't know enough to make an educated guess. I wouldn't mind shooting a muley deer with it next year so if one of these would be a better candidate than the other that would be good to know. what you guys think? thanks in advanced. He's sending photos tomorrow. and they both are in good firing order.

make sure you stock up on all the different types. you can't just run 5.56mm down your barrel unless it's specific to the prey.
God save the Queen. I'm so out of touch with the new generation. In my day we used silver bullets and wooden stakes to kill vampires. But then, that was 300 years ago. What'll be next. OH NO, I SAID THE "G" WORD. Just ignore it.

Green tips is a Military designation as far as I know. Hornady doesn't have to abide by that I would assume. Though these are more slime green than just green.
Choppy, get the 7.62x54r (most likely a Mosin Nagant either 91/30 or M44 carbine as Stratman suggested). Great gun, ammo is cheap. As far as your trade. The gun costs anywhere from $90 to $150 depending on model (unless it's one of the rare versions). So if your trade fodder is worth a lot more, get him to throw in 500 rounds of ammo (about another $100 worth).
It's a big bullet, comparable to 30.06. You can even find "sniper grade" ammo in that caliber, but I don't recall the designation. It'll kick like a mule and give you a nice fireball if it's the shorten'd M44 with the folding bayonet.

oh yeah... wooden stakes and silver bullets are an old method that is neither effective or accurate.
you'll notice a lot of old traditions and stories just never end up being true or verifiable. nah mean?

yep. for generations people have been lying to youngsters. then they grow up with this idea that these characters are real. and since it's all they know, it feels real to them.
what's inside your head is not reality. reality is out in front of you.

I've been a professional Gunsmith for over 25 years and there's no comparison.....take the 7.36x54r. Whether it's Russian, Chinese or Eastern Block European it will be hands down better than that French piece of shit. It will also be more powerful, more accurate (if the bores are comparable) and a lot easier to get ammo for. If you get a chance take it to a local gunsmith and get the "headspace" checked, if not be sure that the bolt serial number matches the receiver.

Ah, but let us not for get the greatest sniper rifle of all time, the 6.5 Italian Carcano. Capable of accurate, rapid fire from elevated positions against moving targets.
And what about the power of that cartridge that spits in the face of traditional ballistics? It makes large entrance wounds and small exit wounds. The projectile can change directions on its own which allows it to hit multiple targets. AND, it can leave fragments in two targets then regenerate itself so as to be heaver than when it was originally fired!!!

oh no Arby! you're one of those guys?!
you fell for the conspiracy theory hype? i believe in occam's razor in this case. i can't believe a conspiracy of this magnatude and complexity could possibly be kept secret.
fuck... bill clinton couldn't get dome in his own office and keep that shit on the down low.
i just don't think it's possible. there have been some thorough and compelling recent rebuttals to all the JFK theories.
free your mind and your ass will follow.
also, we totally landed on the moon. the proof is overwhelming.
