Powder Coating ....
A very durable finish can be attain with the use of P-C ..
As with any paint, the foundation is the key to a good long lasting finish ...
Prep work is a must ...
Here be a bone stock 80" Shovelhead jug that happens to be the first year of the 80 Cubic Inch models.
Casting is rough as a corncob ...
A few hours of work with sanding, welding and the use of Hi-Temp Lab-Metal gets it where the Powder will lay down looking good..
This part of the prep is time consuming ..
Ether go under the bad or fill it in ....
Perhaps, maybe more than a few hours is spent in this area of working the parts ...
Almost got them ready for the Powder...
Some filling in a few small spots with Lab-Metal, heat cure and more sanding ..
Done with the Powder, now to do a step lip on the head gasket surface and finish hone to running size .... Then these puppies will be ready to install ..

Best to study which coatings to use since there are MANY. My gunsmithbro uses a wall locker (with insulation) atop an upward-facing toaster oven for cerakoting and powder coating. Cerakote is interesting stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzpS-5OfyUU

Being the cylinders get pretty dang hot, I choose to use the highest temp Powder I could find on the market ...
Think they said 1500 degrees ......
Dats a bit overkill, but I wanted it to stay put for a few years seeing usage ..

Most towns have used appliance stores. The elements and controller from an electric oven makes a great heater for a P-C cabinet.

Or just grab the whole oven and add cabinet or not depending on part size. Facebook Marketplace has loads of ovens. I got mine at a yard sale.

Guy that does my powder uses this when I bring him forks n other long stuff
Sometimes throws a fan in there if it reaches all the way, otherwise not very hightech. I really like the two coat powders, they hide a multitude of metal work deficiencies and make colors that aren't possible with paint. Powder also works great on springs no nitrogen embrittlement or peeling.

Thanks for posting that pic. That's a slick design and easy to make open in the middle.
