    Linkert throttle bushing removal?

Hi all! I'm getting going on my 47EL Knucklehead project and really enjoying all the great threads on this forum! I'm sure I'll have lots of questions as I go. I'm in the process of rebuilding the carburetor and noticed some throttle shaft play, so new bushings and throttle shaft are on the way. What's the best way to remove the old bushings without damaging anything? I apologized in advance if I missed an existing thread on this in my searches!

      Look in the oem manual,
if you have a lathe, turn down a bolt and have at,
but first look at the manual.

You can use a tap and then GENTLY drift the bushing out while the tap is still threaded in the bushing. Or take it out and screw something else to tap on. But then I am kind of a hack.

Yup^^^, similar to the option for removing Triumph sludge trap, screw in a tap, pull on tap, out it comes.

          Found this:
Spare Parts for Vintage Big twin Harleys
TAP 7mm for THROTTLE SHAFT BUSHING REMOVAL, $8.

          TAP
          HSS - 7mm
          for THROTTLE SHAFT BUSHING REMOVAL
Fits all Linkert "M" series carbs
Proper size to thread into Bushing
then hammer out with drift to remove from Linkert body

Last edited by TriNortchopz; 09-05-2019, 12:09 AM. Reason: 7mm tap
If buildin' old school choppers was easy, anyone could do it... ain't nobody said it's gonna be easy...

Confab posted an ideal, cheap way to pull such things: http://www.chopcult.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53771

No hammering, total control, no problem.

I use a easy out, works great. I just dud this on my spare m35
I also have the correct reamer.
I forget size but can tell you when im home if you need info.
When putting in new bushings dont forget to druve them in with beveled end towards carb.
