Never been a big bagger fan, but this was too good of a deal to pass up, and besides, I wanted a good reliable road bike. 92 Ultra Classic Electra Glide, needed a battery and rear tire (also had corrosion on the connections to the starter relay.) One of the previous owners spent some money on it, as it has supertrapp mufflers, S&S oil pump, K&N open air filter, and pulls like it has a cam of some type. Put a new battery in, cleaned the shit out of the relay connections, and it fired right up and purred like a kitten. Got it for $1,500 (plus $100 for gas and $60 for a cheap walmart battery.)
Just got a hell of a deal.

One hell of a deal is right! That thing would go for $6000 ($4500 US) all day on this side of the border.Comment

Yup, hell of a deal...good to know they are still out there.
For corrosion on all parts including electrical connections, I found this: ACF-50;
Aircraft Protection... For Your Bike
"ACF-50 (Anti Corrosion Formula) was developed to protect aircraft and their electrical systems from corrosion. Aerospace products meet the highest performance standards and for more than 25 years ACF-50 has continued to meet or exceed those requirements.
ACF-50 uses on motorcycles are very similar to those on aircraft. Sprayed into the structure, joints and welds, under the tank and seat and all electrical connectors, where corrosion happens unnoticed..."
If buildin' old school choppers was easy, anyone could do it... ain't nobody said it's gonna be easy...Comment

This! I just replaced a two year old Walmart truck battery I had to buy on the road to Mid Ohio. Motherfucker died two years almost to the fucking day on the road to the Norton owners rally and Mid Ohio! (Good thing I carry a JNC jump pack.) The replacement is not lightweight Walmart shit.
Put the Walmart turd in your riding mower and get the most CCA you can fit because weak batteries do bad things to starter motors. A pushbutton solenoid end cover is cheap and a very good idea.Comment
