Sad to hear. No telling how many of us were influenced by those bikes and even the movie. My mom had to take me to see Easy Rider in '69 and three days later I found and bought my first HD at a garage sale, a '41 WL. I'm going to the Walneck's swap meet tomorrow in Shepardsville KY. That guy thats been sitting on a huge inventory of Easy Rider posters might sell a few extras.

So much of the 70s biker scene was influenced by that movie. RIP Peter, I appreciate the road you showed us.

    A Story:

Think it was in 98 that I was working for "Biker's Dream" in Clearwater Fl.
They sent me to the Daytona Store to work during "Bike Week" ...
We sold the full line of CMC scoots, in that line of bikes they made was Two Special bikes that had their roots from the EasyRider movie..
Only 750 of each was being built... Captain America and the Billy bikes ...

On Saturday we had a VIP come into the shop to help promote sales of these two CMC models, none other than "Peter Fonda" himself...
I had a few chats with the Fella during the coarse of the day...

He was very easy to talk with and enjoyed jokes...
So feeling comfortable to ask stupid questions about the movie... I asked him if the Pot they was smoking was the real stuff or just fake..???
He said to me with a grin, ... Damn Straight it was real, Dennis always had the best smoke ...

This poster that's on my wall in my shop is the exact poster that was over my bed when I was a kid....... I don't throw anything away........ I had it laminated about 20 years ago to preserve it.....

Yea I guess it influenced me just a little.... LOL

You're SURPRISED? Being a biker wasn't, at all, conservative. Nothing could be more utterly conformist than being a biker today but that's a natural transition as the hobby spread and the life died off, not how the chopper scene started. Sex, drugs and rock'n'roll were never socially conservative. Now they're mainstream which is different. The only remaining rebels are one percenters and they are very far from conservative while not being political. There's nothing left to rebel against.

The two most iconic Harleys in history were created by Cliff Vaughs and Ben Hardy. Vaughs was a civil rights activist when it could get you shot. Both were black.

The scene spread by magazine so there was no feedback (dead tree media isn't the internet) nationally and magazines couldn't afford to be controversial or vendors would not carry them. Ever wonder why Easyriders featured Sugar Bear springers but Sugar Bear was nowhere to be seen?

The guy wasn't Wyatt from Easy Rider, he was just Peter Fonda. What man worships another man anyway? What'd he do that's so worthy of praise? You know what's REALLY wrong with the world today? Making an actor into some kind of demigod (or hero) and not acknowledging what a shithead he/she really is in real life.

What a great man he was when he Tweeted " "WE SHOULD RIP BARRON TRUMP FROM HIS MOTHER’S ARMS AND PUT HIM IN A CAGE WITH PEDOPHILES.”

He also called called Kristjen Nielsen a “lying gash” and said she “should be pilloried in Lafayette Square naked and whipped.”

And let's not forget this beautiful, peace-loving bit of poetry: “Sarah Sanders is a lying gash, too. And 'gash' is much worse than cunt. Maybe we should take her children away and deport her to Arkansas.”

Yeah, Thanks Peter Fonda for showing us what a nice, peaceful guy you were. You're such an inspiration.

And here he is with his fake-ass Hippie peace-fingers showing the world what a hypocrite he was:

Hahahaha, if you knew anything about the man and his relationship with his father you would know he doesn't give a fuck about what his father, or anyone else really, was thinking. Henry Fonda was married like 5 times and had very little relationship with his kids. Peter's mom killed herself when Henry traded her in for a younger model. Those are the type of people I worry about impressing for sure. I'm guessing if you did a little digging, most of your idols are liberal hollywood snowflakes as well. That is unless you gave up listening to all music from the 60's and 70's when the president was inaugurated and you only listen to Creed and Toby Keith now. Give it a rest bud.

GSBobber1980 you are right. I loved Easyrider, it heavily influenced my life but fuck Peter Fonda. Just another hate filled old hippie.

How appropriate... to type things into a computer you’d never have the guts to say to people’s faces. Just like Fonda!
