    Default Tank mount

    Anyone mount their sportster tank by drilling and tapping the frame ??

    Only about a million people... Don't do it. do it the right way and use bungs.

    I’m guessing the problem is that the thickness of the tubing is too thin to hold up against vibration... I guess lol

    Nah... I didn’t mean my bike per se’... I was guessing that the reason bolting the tank by drilling and tapping directly to the frame is the “wrong” way of doing it because the tubing is not thick enough to support the vibration. ... a guess as to why using bungs is the “right” way.

    Yeah, you should drill out the frame tube to accept a pair of threaded bungs. Weld them into place and bolt your tank to them.

    That’s the route I’m gonna go. I got some bungs from lowbrow.. I’ll take pics and post when finished

    Can someone tell me why there are two holes at the bottom of this tank??? Is this alternate mounting locations for the petcock???
