Hey guys, my bike runs badly due to my general not really knowing what I'm doing. I recently went through the carburator to the best of my abilities and the bike runs. I have an aftermarket intake with the two mesh vent bolts to mount it to the cylinders. When the bike runs I can only feel air blowing out of my rear cylinder vent bolt. I changed the spark plug on the front cylinder with no success. I was wondering what I would look for next. Any help is appreciated! Also, my exhaust is home made 2-1 with welded in baffle if that's relevant.
I don't know what I'm doing (99' 1200 conversion)

Visit the xlforum for an impressively thorough Sportster education.
We'll need, and you'll need to learn, how to post maximum detail but for now we can ignore the vents and consider how the motorcycle runs. Is your only concern the vent or does the bike run poorly? If so, in what way?
Post clear photos of the exhaust side and the carb side of your machine.
We all start somewhere and an Evo Sportster is an outstanding motorcycle for learning to wrench. Learning is far more valuable than any one bike so persevere!

Note that each crankcase vent in the heads vents the same thing, the crankcase. If one is not issuing any air, that vent may be plugged inside the rocker box in some way. It does not mean that cylinder is malfunctioning. You can just pull the top rocker cover and middle ring and investigate.

Rubber umbrella valve has harden and no longer doing it's job....
As long as yo're in there, drill out the oil weep holes to 1/8"...
You want the umbrella seals to sit flat on the rocker cover...
Some after/market rubber seals are made where you would need to countersink the hole...
Factory seals have no need for that mod..
