Do have one horror story to share with you though;
In 1977 my older brother bought a brand new Fender Stratocaster and a 1972 50W Bassman amp with 2x12 bottom that was a little deeper than normal ( probably about 14"-16" ).
He paid $300.00 for the amp and cabinet back then. Well we've had that amp and cabinet for 40 years in my family. He lives about 10 minutes from my house and I'd usually usually fuck around with it a couple of times a year at his house. He has no children and a successful landscaping business for over 30 years now. For some bizarre reason, without ever even asking me , he decided to sell it on Craigslist about two years ago. I came by on a holiday and went to plug in and play a little bit and noticed the amp wasn't in it's usual spot taking up about 6 square feet on a raised platform.
"Hey, where's the amp ."
-"I sold it about 6 months ago ".
" WHAT ! WHY !!!!"
-" I wasn't really using it and it was taking up space "
Flabbergasted I said " Why didn't you even ask me if I wanted to buy it ????".
- I didn't think you'd want it "
" WHY would you thnk that "!!!!!
" HOW much did you sell it for ????"
- $300.00.
It made me sick for a month . I'm still very bitter about it. He absolutely doesn't need the money and the space wasn't an issue at all.
Whoever bought that set up must have been jumping for joy and hot tailed it out of there. It was only 5 years old when he got it and rarely been gigged.
Unbelievable. I don't even want to know what that setup is worth today.

i use to hot rod bassman amps, tube swaps to el 34 and tone stack teaking, i had a following but the amps are alot now, i sold off 10 vintage fender amps and a 57 stratComment

Ok a few days late and probably going to be sideways like all my pics but , Dragstews, here's my volume/wah. Straight outta 1977. If you put it in the right position and leave it there it gets a great compression sound as well. 3 peddles in one and I've always preferred it to the crybaby.

Well Dave this the best I got to throw at ya !! It's my 1968 Gibson ES330 hollow bodied p-90'd B.B.King signed guitar ( circa mid-90's at Westbury Music Fair on Long Island, N.Y. ).
Real great sounding on the rhythm pickup through my 67 Marshall.
Distortion peddle not needed ( gave my old MXR distortion plus away) .
Great action. Unfortunately B.B. Signed it where my forearm lands to play it and is starting to fade but , hey, I wasn't gonna stop him.

damn thats nice, i have 2 lespauls. 1 is a signature double cutaway and the other is a 1999 1960 reissue, I bought it and played it for about 1 hour . and its been under the bed ever since LOL, its brand new LOLComment
