There's more work in that cam cover than many engines and it's all subtle.

If there's iron on it, it's an ironhead. Hit it with some iron-bearing paint so it can look like cheap cast iron from the era when that was cheaper than aluminum and have a fauxtina Flatster:

It is what the K-model should have been. Aluminum, with a trap door and a light effective starter that works. (There's nothing in later starters which couldn't have been produced in the 1950s.)

It better be large since it likely cost well over 10 grand to build and the cases alone are ~ 3500.

Edit: I sand cast a pot trivet in 7th grade metal class.
I think they call it lost cast method with cast mold made of styrofoam.
I wish they had an adults metal class near me.Last edited by hillcat; 04-27-2019 at 2:53 PM.

I have too much other shit going on at the moment to add a small foundry but if you aren't so constrained you could do it easily without a class.
The adult education to jump on (if you're not a machinist) is machinist training. Did mine on the G.I. Bill + lottery money after retirement but there are all sorts of other funding options available and the Financial Aid folks know 'em all. Machining makes better mechanics and technicians of all sorts and you'd need a mill to finish machine castings anyway.

We could have a suggestion thread for most offensive home for a Fuckle. Besides going ugly you could plaster S&S stickers all over it as revenge. Bonus for installing as many rare, expensive vintage parts as it will fit.
