Also got some time with the frame and the grinder. Wanted to chop off all the extra bits and smooth out the tubes as much as possible. Got rid of the top cross member (neck will be reinforced, boxed in, and molded). Rid of the forward control mounts. Cleaned up the neck casting and seat post. Today... my hands... are KILLING me. This was about 3 hours solid of recip saw chopping... grinding wheel cutting... and mostly angle grinder sanding wheel smoothing. I'm beat.
But - is what it is cause I HAVE to get the axle blocks welded in THIS WEEK. All of us Biltwell People's Champ builders have to have updates turned in by the 11th so that voting can take place from 11/15-11/17. YOU ARE VOTING... AREN'T YOU? Haha. Stay tuned for the links, updates, voting process, all that.
Cheers folks.

Had a MASSIVE weekend.
Got the axle blocks final welded to the frame.
Temporary axle set up.
Ironhead rear drum confirmed and all set with alignments and spacers.
Frame all cleaned up from all the grinding.
Whole bike mock-up reassembled just with basic temp bolts.
And then... finally got it out into the sun!
Had to muscle through this process and slam it together in order to get updated voting pics to Biltwell for the upcoming vote. Voting for this round to whiddle the 25 down to 13 starts this weekend... the 15th, 16th, 17th... on Biltwell's website. Please stay tuned!
More to come!

Then had my buddy from the motocross days come over and take some higher quality photos. We didn't have enough time to process and photo edit the whole shoot... but we got (4) pics done just under the wire for the submission last night. Here are those (4). The rest of the detail shots will come later this week. Cheers!

Well... I didn't make the cut in the Biltwell People's Champ public vote. But that's ok. I'm good with it. Pressure is off. I can focus a bit more on the details without the stress. It was a blast though, and I got to meet a ton of cool new people. Good times. We'll see what lies ahead in terms of shows, rides, events, and maaayyyybe still a trip out west.
Back to work...

finished up the carb engraving. Check out the Instagram @bpeak82 for a short video clip to show both sides.
Also started work on the cowpie lid. Need to strip the old black paint and start the semi-polishing process. The goal is to make it the same luster as the carb and do similar engraving designs. Want to get it clean as I plan out the clutch arm linkage... so that I don't end up obscuring view of the engraving with the arms and hardware. once I know the good surfaces for engraving, then I can do up the tops/sides as needed.
This is the classic "Air Craft Stripper" product:
Then stainless wire brush dremel work.
Next will be 3 or 4 stages of brillo pad wheels on the dremel getting finer and finer, then polishing wheels and rouge. We'll see. Should be a blast considering I hated life when I was doing the carb and manifold. Ugh.
